^ I found that interesting. It seems so typically male that he thinks she likes him back, in truth she was probably hated him.

Well I have read 2/3 of Lolita today, and it's definitely a great read! It captivated me from the first few pages.. though now I am not very fond of the protagonist, but we'll see how it turns out. He's thinking he's being good to Lolita, while she's basically being held captive.. hmm.

That's why I loved it. Because Nabokov showed how something so twisted can be shown in a way that makes the readers sympathise with H. H. just by choosing the right words and the tone of the book. At least, it did with me.

@t: I read... let's see, "Good Omens" by T. Pratchett and N. Gaiman - hilarious and amazing, exactly what expected - I wasn't disappointed for a second, then I read "Sklený vrch" (The Glass Mountain) by Slovak writer A. Bednár, really enjoyed that too, especially because I was reading it in mountains and the plot was set in mountains, which something enhanced the feeling for me. And also it had some bits about Slovak National Uprising, which is something I really want to read about more.

Been a while since I posted in this topic.
Hmmm... since then I've read Stalking the Unicorn: A Fable of Tonight by Mike resnick. It was something different than usual fantasy books, funny at times with some few nice ideas. Pretty neat, but not addictive reading.

Then I started rereading Feist's Krondor: The Betrayal, since I didn't have any new book to read. Love Feist and dark elf Gorath from this book is one of my fave Feist's characters.

Then I put my hands on Charlaine Harris' Club Dead, 3rd part od Sookie Stackhouse cycle, in english. And it's so so much better than first 2 parts in this horribly lame polish translation. Still, I think I prefer tv series (which is a precedence), but this book captivated me, and I gotta order myself next 2 parts, in original of course, as soon as I have any money for that.

Yesterday's evening I started reading David Gemmell's Waylander. Have read it years ago, but hardly remember anything and now I'm planning to read the whole Drenai saga. Gemmell's one of my favourite authors. His writing style is great, and the characters so real, so flesh and bones. They're not entirely good nor entirely bad (well, ok, sometimes entirely bad  ), and they're evolving, changing, growing up. I've already read almost half of it and love it of course.

IMO they lack the specific atmsphere the tv series have, but still they're good, at least when you read them in english  It's not like the author has amazing writing skills, but I must say Club Dead was quite addictive. Also the storyline in the books goes different than in the tv series, so they're not boring, and not gonna spoil the next episodes

Well I finished Scarlett Thomas' The End of Mr Y in just a few days, amazing book, loved it totally.

Quote:
When Ariel Manto uncovers a copy of The End of Mr Y in a second-hand bookshop, she can't believe her eyes. She's read about its author before, the outlandish Victorian scientist Thomas Lumas, and this is his most notorious, and rarest, book. It is also believed to hold a curse. Anyone who's ever read it, including Lumas, has disappeared without trace. With Mr Y under her arm, Ariel is thrust into an adventure of faith, physics, love, death, and everything in between.Part gothic mystery, part time-travelling love story, The End of Mr Y lies somewhere between Shadow of the Wind and Dr Who . Scarlett Thomas sends us on a wild and irresistible quest into our deepest selves and our biggest questions.

So, after this I continued on by starting Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre, again it's a lovely book and I am racing through it, I've loved the miniseries (2006 one) for years but never bothered to start on the book since it seemed a bit.. like a girly book. Romance, drama. Blabla. But, to my surprise, it's not at all like that, it's romance of course, but I love the book! Got only about 200 pages in so far, but this way, I'll be finishing it soon. ;)

Currently reading "Why is Sex Fun?" by Jared Diamond. It is short and sweet, so definitely easy to read considering it is nonfiction.

A lot of people complain that Diamond's writing is bland, but they just can't pick up on his subtle humor. UGH if there was ever a reason i'd go to University California, Los Angeles (UCLA) which I in general hate, it'd be so that i could take classes from Diamond... who teaches there..

The novel I'm writing is my favorite book by far because it's still stuck in my head.

Honestly...
Harry Potter series
The Works of Charles Dickens
Crime and Punishment
The Jungle

I have others, but the list will go on.

^ Ha I have that too! It's really cool 8)

I'm halfway through The List of 7 by Mark Frost.
It's a fictional crime/thriller/horror story about Arthur Conan Doyle and I love it.
