^I think skull makeup is quite popular... one can't say where it came from originally, maybe from kids on Halloween or so...
But why is that so important?

Could be anything. Day of the Dead skulls, biker gangs, Kiss's make up, Misfit's skull make up, even the corpse paint of Black Metal which they wore before in old bands.

And yes countless people have worn it, but like all facial painting, you can't really pin it down.

Thing is, Skinny has only said the skull make up was for the 'METAL' video and promo alone, hence they don't wear it on stage. x

As for asking questions, I'd ask Skinny on either his fb or twitter if you are really curious.
