Hello, friends!
I`m thinking about "fangirlism" for several days. Let`s talk about it? Help me to understand it. What do you feel about the band? It`s clear that everybody here is in love with Deathstars, but what do you feel about it exactly? Something wild and mad or something that helps you to succeed, upgrade your`s skills and become a better one person? Yeah, it`s very interesting topic for me to talk over.
As for me, I`m listening for Deathstars for 7 years- it was such a love at first sight. I`ve just had not enough strength to stop listening for it firstly)) It was something like morbid thirst) It was strange for me `cause almost all my friends are musicians, a lot of them succeeded, and it leaved a mark on my attitude for all music, some criticism and cynicism showed up. I have never been a fangirl in classical point of view even when I was 13, I`m not a person who can do something like mad utter shrill screams when favorite band is near (I don`t mean shows on the stage, just when you meet them wherever)). I`m working with musicians here in Russia and for me it is interesting to understand the band from the personal point of view, it`s interesting to talk to them and face some real person, not the stage image.
What about you?

Hey Dasha

It's an interesting topic to discuss. I think there are different types of fans and I've seen them all at Deathstars gigs. Some are very "fan girly" (to the point of stalker ish), some are very laid back, some are enthusiastic and want to talk to the guys about their look/stage clothes etc. Ultimately, as long as people are respectful of the band and their friends and families then it's all good. Remember - despite them being rock gods, they're just like you and me.

I don't like these hardcore fangirls who faints when they see a bandmember and start to squeak and giggle when they see a picture of them and wanna know everything about them .. I think they're a bit ridiculous.
I myself would love to talk to the DS guys one day, but not in a "OMG KISSSS MEEEE" way, hehe^^

I recently discovered Deathstars. For me the music I love is sometimes a real therapy, during weeks and months the music I‘ve chosen follow me, comfort me.

When I go to a concert I would have the profile: very enthusiastic but don’t ask me to talk to the Deathstars, I would be lost, I would be afraid to be “usual”, or boring. Would I say I'm too shy?

So when I go and see them live, I have only one hope and feeling inside: to give them back all the happiness they brought me by their music, but it stops there, the profile stalker fan does not please me.

I have an attachment to their music but also much tenderness for who they are and how they manage with it.

Matilda, don't be scared to just go up and say hi. They always have time for fans and you don't have to do anything but say hi and thanks. Its enough. They're just wonderful human beings :D

hell yeah, they are) I told first that I`m working with musicians here in Russia, so it`s clear for me that finally everyone is just a human, a person with his (or her) own needs, dreams and so on, no matter how famous he (or she) is.
I just wanna explore something common in all fan-types, if I can say so, exept just identical music tastes))

And thank you all guys for your attention and answers, it`s really very important for me!

For me Deathstars is not only the source of wild energy. It may sound strange, but they bring peace to my soul. I get rid of negative emotions while listening to them and in the end I feel drained but satisfied in the same time.

Oh a chance to talk about how I feel about DS! Yay!

I've liked them for 6 or so years now. Initially it was the music; but then I became a pretty diehard Cat fangirl (closely followed by WHip)
I collected pictures, talked about him non stop and just all round fantasised about him and liked to pretend he was my best friend cause he answered one of my questions in ATD...
...however now I am older, I still adore their music, I think Cat is sexy, but now DS are just people (incredbily talented people mind you) but still just people. Now I only fangirl to mock other fangirls...

Nice to meet you, Dasha (:

*warning* I'm going to give this topic a good thinking.. which means a lot of text from me *warning*

About related things first:

Well.. It was actually a big surprise for me to come interested in Deathstars. Everything started because my boyfriend had listened them in the past and one day decided to play some of DS CD's tracks to me.

I saw their music video of Synthetic Generation, and I approved the way they looked and sounded. Excellent, I thought. They seemed to be some kind of an industrial band, I thought back then.
--> I went to see them in a music festival called Ruisrock, and they had this military theme going on. It was very interesting/fresh/entertaining. Loved the "stage speeches"! I was convinced of their skills/performance as a band.
At that time I wasn't anything near to a fan, I knew few songs from NEN. But after seeing the gig I was sure that this band is worth checking out more closely in the future.

I started liking few of their songs, and soon I was curious to listen all their albums through. To my surprise, there weren't many songs I didn't like. Actually, none was the kind I couldn't listen to. It's a rare thing for me to find a band like that.

I've always been one to listen black metal/industrial, and it confused me when in one interview Whiplasher announced that DS was not an industrial or a metal band but a deathglam band. THE deathglam band.
Never heard about deathglam before, but had to admit that the title seemed to suit them very well!

And now, about fangirlism:

When I was only 14 years old.. my first and only fangirlism was the Cradle of Filth.
I've met them once live; it was an amazing experience. Nowadays they are just a band that I adore over others. No screaming on gigs, never had and never will. Just enjoying the good show&music. And partying like crazy!

Deathstars have kind of opened my eyes from a black-white vision of the music world  And I like it.
They have affected my life in a good way, found a permanent spot in my favorites playlist. I am drawn to their music; lyrics/melodies/structure of the songs. I seek inspiration from different styled bands songs and often reflect my own thoughts/experiences from some of them that seem suitable. I probably have no clue what the DS songs are really about, but some of them makes my imagination running, memories and thoughts entwining. Silly, eh?

I suppose I'm pretty basic fan, not about to scream and faint but I will sure as hell party at their gigs and make sure the crowd will be clapping, jumping, moshing and whooping.
I am determined to try and do my part in ensuring that the DS will have a "thank you for coming!" written on the crowd.

I'm eagerly waiting for their new album, it feels that the DS has taken a few big steps forward in their career and the journey as a band. The new look is fresh (..if it's OK to describe it in that way.. "dead" would also be pretty accurate).

DS is a different band in a good way. You can't really compare them to anyone, and why should you? They are one of a kind.

Well.....mmm how to star...*thinks*

Well I guess i can give two diferents points of views:

One as a Fashion Designer.....and the other as a normal mmm human...

As human:
Well im not the tipical girl that sreams, only to ask some songs...but as a person im a very shy. So i guess that what i would do if i see them on the street or on backstage, I will be smiling and i will say hi, and *Bows* to all and then i will probably run away....because i would be so nervious that its better that way.

As a Designer:
I will love to work with them, because i love theyre own style. I found realy intresting how each one had developed theyre own personality even that they dress all with the same. Its like theyre own version of the subjet that they had pick as band for the Album and print on it theyre own version. And Well the music is realy inspiring for any creative and a bit crazy mind like my own. So i would not care what i had to do to do not run away.

I’m not an artist but I thought exactly the same, few weeks ago I met a metal band’s guitarist with who I can have long conversations and exchange of ideas, they are (with his band) at the very beginning of a career that I hope successful, now I see everything with “new eyes”, it’s for me a new knowledge of myself, it was in me and I didn’t know 8)

I'm a guy, so I'm not sure if I count.

I can get fanatical about a band though, especially Deathstars, at the moment. Do I want to talk to them? Sure, but my only question would be; "Are considering using Anne Eckberg(?) again for the backing vocals in the next album?"
